Hi,

I have a question regarding the support for displaying cycle and hiking tracks in OsmAnd. The Czech support team (mainly Luděk Melichar) is preparing great offline data for displaying cycle and hiking ways in OsmAnd. You can check it here: http://osmand.cz/2012/09/ceske-turisticke-trasy-v-osmand/ (use Google translator to translate the page to a language you understand).

I'm wondering how difficult would it be to provide these data also for other countries. I think it would be very useful. You can see the cycle and hiking tracks displayed on the attached pictures. But as you can see there are no more data behind the borders of Czech Republic.

Another interesting Czech project is this map viewer based on OSM data: http://map1.eu/. I really like the style. It would be great if I could use it in OsmAnd.

Hi!

I'm wondering how difficult would it be to provide these data also for other countries. I think it would be very useful.

OsmAnd now has support for route relations, relations of type icn, lcn, rcn and ncn are already available in the obf files, have a look at:
https://github.com/osmandapp/Osmand/blob/r1.2/OsmAnd-java/src/net/osmand/osm/rendering_types.xml

If you enable the Touring-view_(more-contrast-and-details) renderer and activate the option "Show cycle routes", then these routes will be highlighted on the map, have a look at:
https://github.com/osmandapp/Osmand/blob/master/OsmAnd-java/src/net/osmand/render/Touring-view_(more-contrast-and-details).render.xml

You don't need preprocessing anymore, like osmand.cz does it.

Now it should be easy to refine or extend the two mentioned files.

Regards,
Max

Hi,

Osmand already have support for hiking tracks. Czech support team prepared data based on tag kct_* . These tags are used only in Czech Republic. Osmand support hiking track based on osmc_symbol. This solution is more general. According this page http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Trasy_K%C4%8CT kct tracks are also marked with osmc symbols.
