I have bought and downloaded OsmAnd+ from the market. But I could not find any information about how 'Offline Wikipedia feature' is supposed to work. I saw that there are some wiki downloads available. I just want to know what to do after downloading.

Can anyone please explain or put some information on wiki?

Go to map view, select "Menu" -> "Define view" -> "POI..." -> "Wikipedia (offline)"
Click and hold on some of these orange dots, so that the grey box appears, then select "Show POI description" and it will give you the description you would normally read on the wiki homepage concerning this POI.

If you still need to read it online (because i.e. for some reason the information got messed up during convertion), choose "Show POI website".

Regards,
Horst

I tested this on one of the POIs that have a wikipedia article linked (using wikipedia tag). I don't see any 'Show POI Description' menu. I only see 'Show POI website' which takes me to online version of wikipedia article.

Your POI used, does it say it is an "Wikipedia (offline)" POI once this grey box pops up?
(The first line in the grey box says, to which category this POI belongs)

No it didn't say "Wikipedia (offline)". So I searched for such POIs. Found two and with them the feature works.

So now my question is, how are these POIs created, from where do they come?

They are extracted from wikipedia, articles with geo information.

I experienced that always like you: no deeper information behind the Wikipedia Icons, only the title was visible. I was trying quite a while until i found the solution. There are two click modes!

1. Tap short on a Wikipedia icon: a rounded dark grey popup appears with the title of that Wikipedia place - That disappears automatically - no more information.
2. Tap and hold on the Wikipedia icon: a light grey rectangle appears with the title of that Wikipedia place - here you can tap short again and a menu pops up with many options. select the top option like "show POI- description" =>here you go!

That should be in the help or in the wizzard or in the POI-help
