I've had the same on my normal old phone, scrolling over the Hong Kong map it would go from 500m scale straight down to 50m or 10m scales. Then I had to use the ruler to zoom out again, and 2 map moves further same thing happened again. Finally I pulled the battery out of the phone and left Hong Kong for what it was. It has not done it since. Btw, I downloaded this map 3 days ago, all other maps I have are older.

That is a good solution. Simply leave Hong Kong and never come back is a simple and effective one-finger solution :-)
