Hi all,

I'm still trying to make raster tiling files from one file with ECW
format. The ECW file is produced with GlobalMapper. After doing
somethings
with MapTiler, I still cannot produce raster map tiles until now. If
Anybody know how to make the local raster (with ECW or likely) without
getting raster from internet?

Thanks,
Aiman

Hi,

You can do that with Global Mapper itself. Export raster to web format, choose osm format.

My GlobalMapper 12.00 does not include OSM Export Web Format, only
Google Map Tiles, KML/KMZ, SVG, VRML, World Wind Tile, and Zoomity
Tiles.

I tried to make Google Map Tiles and producing tile within zoom level
15-18, but after place it in osmand/tiles/Google Maps,
not seem to be success. Still looking in the source code.

Is there any suggestion ?

Hi,

Take 12.02 at least, or the new 13.0 for export to osm you can use trial version.

The ECW was exported to OSM Tiles with Global Mapper producing some Z/
X/Y (suppose I have folder Jakarta/X/Y/<files>.png) folders in place.
Then i move the folders to Osmand folder (sdcard/osmand/tiles), I open
it in Osmand setting Overlay/Underlay Map with name Jakarta and I seek
the raster
in latitude/longitude as is. But what happen is it still cannot be
opened in map. I struggling to choose the matched zoom like the
directory but it's not give me something useful. May be i'm wrong
somehow..

Success! I double check my trying load tiles of ECW raster map in
Osmand. All works nicely.
Thanks team. Your help is very important for my homework :)

After doing some test for OSM Tiles produced from ECW format with
GlobalMapper 13, I found that
Osmand read the tile files with the extension .png.tile. This because
after trying with direct tile result from GlobalMapper
with extension .png, it cannot work in Osmand. After renaming all .png
files to .png.tile extension, Osmand can read it.

I don't know why this happen. But now, i'm in trying to look inside
code (may be in net.osmand.map.TileSourceManager.java).

Still unknow reason why osmand could not read OSM Exported Tiles from
GlobalMapper with extension .png. The extension .png.tile
work nicely in Osmand, thus i must convert all .png files
to .png.tile.

Hi,

You should use OsmandMapcreator to make a sqlitedb package. You can use the png files then. Create a new mapsource then.
You can also use Mobac for that. You have to create a new xml mapsource definition and subfolder with your pre-made tiles. You can even preview your tiles then!
Please search Google group osmand on the word Mobac for more details.

Van atten,

Yes all work as you said. I use Mobac. I just have to make an xml file
then place that file on Mobac mapsources directory,
then open Mobac and choose Map source precisely as the name of xml
file.

Template file for making xml file is here:
