The OsmAnd help pages (at http://osmand.net/help/HowToArticles.html#Setting_up_.60OsmAnd.60_for_your_region, but also inside the app) talk about an option "Use English names in maps", but I can not find that option in the app.

I go to the dashboard (the square icon with four boxes in it), then to settings (the gear icon), General settings. Under Localization the only options are "Display langauge", "Driving region" and "Unit of measure". Has the "Use English names in maps" option been removed, or am I looking in the wrong place?

If it has been removed, could the help page be updated please?

Thanks, Peter

Tell us what version of Osmand you have in use.

Because in a nightly version from some days ago, I do have the option to choose the language for map display, with English names as a fallback solution,

I'm using OsmAnd+ 2.1.1 (from 20 june 2015).

I have an option "Display language", but I assume that is the interface language, not the language for map labels. Where is the option you have, located? Is it on the "Global app settings" page, under "Localization"?

Normally I use a nightly build version from Osmand that I download and install manually every two weeks or similar.

And when switching the Osmand app language fro German to English, I go to "Global app settings", sub-area Localization, and there I can see four items:

Display language
Driving Region
Map preferred language
Unit of measure

I have no old version from summer 2015 to compare with the official release from June 2015,

but I hope (like many other users I assume, that we will have a new official Osmand release in some weeks.

Having the github code repository activity in view, there have been really many changes about app user interface.

Thanks, yes in the nightly build I have Map Language! Too bad the nightly build is a trial version (allowing only 5 downloads) and doesn't share files with the payed version, meaning I have to download all maps again and none of my favorites come through...

Did you manually install this file: OsmAnd_nightly.apk ?

pay attention to the exact names of downloadable apk files from http://download.osmand.net/latest-night-build/

Success?

No, I installed OsmAnd-default.apk. From http://www.osmand.net/ there is a link (in the bottom) called "OsmAnd Nightly Build", which downloads OsmAnd-default.apk. I didn't even get to see there were several different ones.
