Hi

My Kitkat phone does not allow me to capture screencast of OsmAnd~ nightlies.
So I thought of running it on my Windows PC using BlueStacks.

I have finished installing BlueStacks and OsmAnd~. But it is asking to download the maps now.
Well, I already have them on my phone.
So where do I copy the maps to the PC? (Which folder?)

Any pointer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

regards,
Narayan

Screencaptures in KitKat  work by swiping with your full flat hand from right to left over your entire screen. Perhaps you need to try 2-3 times to get "the right swipe".

Hi

If you mean screenshots (still image of the screen), I can take them by pressing  Vol- and Power buttons together.
But I want to take screencast (video),which is not available in Kitkat without rooting the phone.
On the other hand, there's a Windows software called "ActivePresenter" that can create excellent videos, with annotations, non-linear editing, special effects, etc.
I actually wanted to create new video tutorials on OsmAnd with it.
For that purpose, I need to run OsmAnd on BlueStacks.
I have already installed OsmAnd on BlueStacks, but don't know where to put the map files.

Any pointers would be appreciated!

Regards,
Narayan

Hello Nayran,

are you able to install TotalCommander or any other free file browser app inside Bluestacks?

Maybe then you can find out where the Osmand folder is located itself.

I did this by creating a virtual SD card for use by Bluestacks, then mounting this image file using OSFMount so that it was visible to the PC. That way I could transfer map files to the virtual SD Card, and could access them from Osmand.

Once I got Osmand+ running under Bluestacks on a PC I abandoned it, as it ran much better on my Android tablet and is easier to use with a multipoint touch-screen!

I use virtualbox. There are several android images available for virtualbox ranging from 4.1 to 4.4
