can I get rid of the red triangle during navigation ??

I am using Version 0.8.3 on and Android Phone (Samsung Infuse) running Gingerbread (2.3.6)

During navigation, a red triangle displays in the center of the screen indicating the direction to the destination.

This is totally unnecessary as it has nothing to do with the decisions I need to make as I approach an intersection.

This is distracting as it is a relatively large element on my small screen. It requires me to think to figure out which arrow to look at (and by the way the arrow depicting my location is red in some other applications

I cannot find any option to remove it.

IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET RID OF IT ???

If complexity of providing an option to remove it is too cumbersome, I would recommend to the developers just GET RID OF IT.  

I can't imagine why anyone would even need such a feature.

I had posted the same question in the bug report area (probably a bad location to post, sorry)

There was a response there stating the following:

Options is added  to configure apperance button on the screen (Advanced Settings plugin).

Configure it in appropriate profile (so in car profile for example and not in default)

So, I did enable the advanced settings.

Then exited, rebooted and re-entered  the program..  I noticed that when I click on the "configure screen" icon near upper right corner of the map, there are a few more items under the category "miscellaneous" (rendering style, font size, transparent skin for example).  

But I don't see anything that allows to remove this red triangle.  I also don't see any changes in the settings screen.

** Can someone explain to me exactly where the option to remove red triangle should be located after I install this advanced settings plugin??

personally, I like it :-) . I want to see if I'm generally heading in the right direction. But then, I am on a 7" screen.

Thanks Sebastian.  I have to admit my original post was opinionated and closed-minded. There are clearly a lot of different ways the program can be used and a lot of variation in personal preferences.

A fantastic feature of OSM_And is the ability to customize toward user preferences.

However I am still unable to grasp how to customize toward my preference to removing this item.   Even after following above instructions to install the advanced settings plugins, I still can't find any means to get rid of that box.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can Open the map window. Tap the blu circle in the upper right. Scroll. And you See vieuwing direction .

JanOak - I'm not sure if you misunderstood me or I misunderstood you. I'd like to understand your instructions, step by step:

OK, that moves my position to the center of the screen.

"Scroll. And you See vieuwing direction"

OK, the "viewing direction" arrow does indeed appear.

But I'm trying to get it to disappear... and not particularly interested in scroll mode... I want it gone when I'm in turn-by-turn navigate mode.

I'm still looking for instructions to get RID of the red arrow.  (perhaps I'll have to wait for next version as suggested above)
