What is the difference between ridewithgps and osmand?  My basic requirements: be able to download a GPX file, have turn by turn directions, minimize battery usage, run offline, and in a pinch, create a new route.

I saw one blog where the person said how great it was to use ridewithgps and osmand together.  Why would you do that?  https://www.bikeforums.net/electronics-lighting-gadgets/816304-ride-gps-osmand-wow.html#post20522197.  I also posted the same question there, hope it is okay to post in two places.

Have you considered OSMAnd/BRouter or LocusMap/BRouter ?

Most bike routing solutions has no way to address personal biker
preferences that differ a lot.

Brouter is different. It means less extra points in manual route creation
just to fix wrong guess of the router.

Especially LocusMap is great in fully offline route planning and following,
or directly with native Brouter offline routing interface.

GpX generated by Brouter provides great crossing/junction only voice hints,
so does ( for LocusMap only) the offline routing interface.
