I'm adding OSMAnd to a new phone.

I can copy across maps, tracks, wiki, tiles, fonts, favorites
as I could specify where to put these in
Settings / General Settings/ Data Storage Folder
So it is easy to move this folder to a new phone.

BUT everything is in there except
the general settings,
and the Profile specific settings (eg car, bicycle,...).

As there many many settings options,
knowing where they are would save a lot of painful time.

Is it for Android and what version? The app settings itself in Android are in the /data/data folder, usually not available for you unless rooted. If you are rooted, copy the /data/data/xxx.osmand.xxx subfolder - not sure how it is exactly named, I cannot look it up at the moment, I have just the non-rooted device on me.

It should be possible to transfer the settings on nonrooted Android using either the ADB route (ADB backup and ADB restore, ADB needs to be switched on in developer options) or the Helium app from the play store (probably needs the full version to restore) - this is the same method, but the app makes it easier and needs for the nonrooted method the use of ADB as well (just to set it up).

Yes, you can back up your favourites, tracks etc etc by uploading to Dropbox/Drive or copying to laptop etc but navigation settings, quick action etc etc are not straightforward.  Like Majka, with rooted devices I usually backup using Titanium.  If need to reinstall for some reason I re-download from the Play Store & import OsmAnd data from Titanium.  Works well - I had to do this only last weekend.

Hopefully the devs will consider adding a proper back up/restore option in a future release, it would be a great addition for non rooted users

Thanks for the idea.  I tried it, but adb can't access /data/data unless the device is rooted.
I have not rooted this 6P.

Is it for Android and what version?

Android 7.1.2 on a Nexus 6P.

@Matt Vokes

 I usually backup using Titanium.

Because rooting requires replacing the recovery,
and some system updates don't work without stock recovery,
the decision to root is not so simple.
I rooted and replced the rom on all my non-google devices (Samsung, HTC)
but don't root the google devices (One, 6P) as they come quite clean.

Hopefully the devs will consider adding a proper back up/restore option in a future release, it would be a great addition for non rooted users

Second that, there are an amazing number of settings to configure it to my usage, but I don't look forward to putting it on a new device.

has anyone found this days, if latest version has somewhere the ability to backup the settings into a file, so we can restore them to a new phone or after a hard reset ???

something we can found for a long time ago into other outdoor app like OruxMaps or LocusMaps.

Still not possible. You can backup it by the way of adb backup - either directly, or using app (Helium Backup / oandbackup). To be clear, you have to use adb backup, not the adb pull command.

with the latest full version 3.5.3 (3.5.0 beta), we can finally have the ability to export / import our settings, for every user profile independently.

but how we can backup / restore our favorites places ?

In OsmAnd's main folder (e.g. Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/) is a file called favourites.gpx (with old versions stored in the subfolder "backup"). This is a standard GPX POI file containing your favourites, complete with any categories you may have created for them.

It used to be that OsmAnd only ever wrote to this file and did not read it on startup. But I just tested the newly-released version 3.5 and now it does read the file after a full restart. This is great, and raises the possibility of using Syncthing to sync favourites between devices... I need to experiment!

To transfer favourites to a new device, you just need to copy favourites.gpx and overwrite the one on the new device.

Alternatively, if you have any GPX POI file (including favourites.gpx), if you try to open it in a file manager, OsmAnd should come up as one of the apps that can open it (or maybe it is the only one available for you). Then you are given the option of importing the file into your favourites or just viewing as GPX points. If you add to your favourites then it's merged in to what you already have in a sensible way, preserving categories and avoiding exact duplicates. Please make backups before experimenting in case this has changed since I tried it a while ago!
