OsmAnd+ (2.x) no longer compatible with my device

Hello,

I installed OsmAnd+ v2.0.1 when it came out in April or beginning of May (from Google Play). I have Android 4.2.2 (Samsung ACE3). The app and everything works fine. I haven't updated my Android since then. Now, I want to get the update to v2.0.4, but suddenly Google Play tells me that the app is no longer compatible with my device (both on the device Play app and from website play.google.com)?!

As I wrote, the app (v2.0.1) works fine, but I'm afraid of uninstalling it and trying to install 2.0.4 from scratch, because if it's no longer compatible, then I will lose it completely.

PS I don't have an external SD card and I didn't have any problems while previously upgraded from OsmAnd+ 1.9.x to 2.0.1. Please help me.

There is an issue with Android 4.2.2 on Samsung devices. This caused so much issues that these Samsungs running those Android versions have been set to incompatible.

If you still want to try & test you will find all releases here: http://download.osmand.net/releases/

Note that with such a version the auto-update feature of the Google App doesn't work, but you can install any version you like.

Having said that: A manual install won't probably succeed either as not only Google Play tests, but also your phone itself.

FYI, as a 4.2.2 user on Samsung ACE3 I haven't seen any problems with my OsmAnd+ (a paid version) so far. And now I learn that as a customer of OsmAnd+ I'm being cut from any further updates... (?) Not cool.
Do you know (any authors here?) if any futher versions will be set as "compatible" with this setup once again?

Please contact the project team. I'm just a user explaining some things to you.

And in the communication they made clear that they will try to find a workaround for this bugandthey already tried very hard. It is one of the reasons the 2.x release was delayed. The fact that you didn't notice anything doesn't mean a whole lot of other users didn't notice it. You sound like a helpdesk: "It works for me. How can it not work you?"

And who says you are cut of from further updates?: It is a known bug for these devices. It has nothing to do with OsmAnd. Blame Samsung. 

I understand your frustration, but this has happened numerous times in software history with all kind of software on all kind of OSes and on all kinds of hardware.
