Hello,

there already is the option to avoid freeway as well as unsurfaced ways. Lately because of traffic jam on the freeway I left, stopped routing, enabled "Avoid freeways" and started routing again. But the route did still take the freeway.
This was very annoying since I was not able to route without using the freeway.

Best regards, Massimo

To evaluate this error we have to find out a) how is the freeway you wanted to avoid tagged? and b) what ways does Osmand avoid if a user selects this feature?

Can someone have a look at the source code?

And Massimo: please give us an OSM permalink to your freeway.

Our code:

The option "Avoid motorways" sets nullifies the propagation speed on highway=motorway and highway=motorway_link, so exactly these two ways are completely neglected for routes.

Sorry, I'm not that familiar with OSM. What does that mean? It does not take the higher speed on highways into account anymore? But doesn't it use a speed for any street when calculating the fastest route? Then what speed does it take for highways when avoiding?
Does that mean it would take the highway anyway if this is still the shortest route and "Avoid motorways" is enabled?

Then I would seriously like to have a feature to set some avoidance as usual like motorways, unsurfaced ways, ferries. But this should mean to really avoid these ways and to calculate a different route. At least the "Avoid motorways" I generally use when the motorway has traffic jam.

By the way, is Osmand+ capable to support live traffic messages like the old TMC by radio broadcast? Is there any replacement by internet service which could be used by Osmand+?
By the way, is there some recommendation for the different online routing services? Offline was not working at all before for long distance (>300km) on the small ZTE Blade, is getting better since the last Update, but still takes long and sometimes does not return. I cannot see any difference between the online services and I ended at OpenRouteService since I like their openrouteservice.org in Germany.
For this situation of "Avoid motorways" I tried all the 3 online services, but no difference.

Best regards,
Massimo

Hi Stephan,

the location was around here: Pos@: 7.1998638 51.2281956
If I calculate the route with openrouteservice.org and set "Avoid motorway" there I get the correct route without motorways:
http://www.openrouteservice.org/index.php?start=7.1998638,51.2281956&end=8.3799049,51.9044291&pref=Fastest&lang=de&noMotorways=true&noTollways=false

When I was using Osmand there it always told to take the motorway eventhough "Avoid.." was enabled.

Regards,
Massimo

Thanks for pointing out.

Indeed it was a bug but only in "Show-only" mode. Now it is fixed.

Best Regards,
Victor

Hi Victor.

What does that mean, in "Show-only" mode? The route was also taking the freeway when I started navigation.
Thank you for the bugfix. Does that mean, with the next version, if I choose "Avoid freeway" same way as I did, Osmand will try to calculate completely without freeways?

In general, do I need to stop navigation and start again after changing the navigation settings of that profile "car"? Or is there a re-calculation triggered after changing settings?
It would be very nice to have these important navigation settings of the current profile available in the settings listbox on top of the map, instead of changing to configuration, settings, navigation, profile "car" .. and so on.

Best regards,
Massimo

Yes, you need to regenerate route if you change the settings.

I share your point so it would be nice to have an expandable section to configure all settings before your start navigation. Will think how to do better.

Best Regards,
Victor
