Last year I was creating routes for my motorbik in the following way>
I opened a gpx, calculated a route with the option "calculate route between points" enabled and the option "Calculate a osmand route for the fiorst and last routepoint" disabled. This took a while. Then I saved the calculated route,
On my motorbike I could open the precalculated route and almost immediately start driving. When I left the route Osmand tried to get me back on track and that worked great.

Now this procedure does not work anymore in version 3.6. When I navigate a precalculated route and I am off track Osmand no longer tries to navigate back to the route but in stead I see a straight line to the starting point.
When I open the orginal gpxfile and calculate the route again (takes some time on my old phone) then the navigation works as expected.
So saving the calculated route and reopening this route does not work properly.

Also I noticed that the  waypoints on the route are announced although I have turned all announcement options off.

I was going to say that Calculate route for first and last point should be enabled; otherwise you get those straight lines when you're off the GPX.  But looking on v 3.7.2 while navigating a GPX, I don't see any GPX-specific options including the two you mention. Could someone confirm or point to where they are?

It seems to depend on the gpx file if the menu option are available or not. For self generated gpx files the options are not available, for downloaded gpx files they are. I could not make not a reason for this and think its mire a bug than a feature....

Thanks.  For GPX routes created on OsmAnd, maybe there's no longer a need to calculate a route between points as the new version seems to do a nice job of doing regular turn-by-turn navigation, including street names.  (See toward the bottom of https://osmand.net/blog/osmand-3-7-released). But calculating the route for first and last points would still seem useful, no matter how the GPX was created.

I use downloaded gpx files that are created on www.myrouteapp.com
The straight lines appear when I use a file that has been saved and reopened after calculation the route with route points.

I see that the option calculating the route for the  first and last routepoint is recommended by some of you. I do not use this option. When I am off track. Osmand calculates a new route to the gpx route, no straight line. So this works ok.

@Bart: Did you make a video on creating a route with routepoint in Osmand??

No.  I've experimented with it, but I still don't have enough understanding of how reliable the technique is--both on the route and recalculating when off it it.
