I really appreciate Osmand!!

Thought I would just post this!!
We are in the planning stage of our next cycle tour where we will spend 6 weeks in France. Using Osmand on our tours has been absolutely fantastic! It has saved our bacon on more than one occasion!

Thanks Tom. Could you give some examples of how you’ve used it and bacons saved.

Last year we traveled 3000 miles across Europe starting in Helsinki. At time our route would take us across farmer's field on a track of sorts. Many times the track would just disappear and out comes Osmand to find parallel or close by roads or tracks to get back on our way.
We head back to France for 6 weeks in May. And we will load Cycle Travel routes onto Osmand.
The other feature I like is to "pin" point of interest and campgrounds.

Was OsmAnd's advantage the completeness of the OpenStreetMap data (vs. say, Google Maps)? Or that you didn't need a data connection? Both? Others? I'm interested because extensive "use cases" like yours are not commonly reported here on the forum.

Bart, I would say both. But the detail available in Osmand is great! I am quite"tech challenged" but as I learn more of the features in Osmand the more I appreciate it. When we tour other cyclists ask what we use and I continue to promote!!
