Limitations?

What are the details of the limitations of the osmand free version?
Even with the latest v.1.3.1 beta, it says the map download is limited to 10.
On your website, its says the limit is 16, but still the situation is far from beeing clear.

Is 10 the limit of downloads and/or updates per map?
So even if I only have one map, its useless after 10 updates?
If it is 10 maps, why at least I cannot deselect one map to allow for use of another map?
Why at all you limit download and usuage of openstreemap data??

Your app can be perfect, but with the strict map limits, its pretty useless.

It is really 10. We would like to provide fully functional application limited a little. For try out 10 maps are good to go for vacations or even use local navigation for years ,running map udpate 2-3 times a year.

If you like it please consider to buy it, if you can't then you always can find maps and copy to sdcard.

The limit (whatever the number) is the number of map downloads (doesn't matter if it is different map or updates to same map) you can do from within the application.

You are free to download map updates from osmand.net website and save them to your phone's storage in appropriate folder.

Because the data used is not raw data from openstreetmap. It needs to be processed and converted to make it suitable for rendering, indexing, searching etc. The processing infrastructure is not free.

 

Your app can be perfect, but with the strict map limits, its pretty useless.

As said above you are still free to download map updates for free from browser. If you would like to avoid the efforts, you might as well buy the paid version (OsmAnd+). :-)

Note: I am just a user, not developer of OsmAnd.
