How to extract *.zip-1

Hey!
I downloaded maps from http://code.google.com/p/osmand/downloads/list
for OSMand. But I can't figure out how to extract the two files. They
have the ending *.zip-1 and *.zip-2. I tried to rename them in several
ways searched google for hours. Since this was the only kind of area
to post questions I do so.

Maybe not the best solution, but it seems to work:
a) rename *.zip-1 to *.zip.001, *.zip-2 to *.zip.002 (and so on)
b) use HJSPLIT to merge these files
c) extract the final zip-file

Alternatively, of course, if you use the Offline data Download
function built into the app, the files get extracted and concatenated
automatically ...
