I have all the maps which I need to plan a trip on my phone, but osmand does not want to calculate the route without the newest maps. how to force it to accept the existing ones?

Hi! The new OsmAnd route calculation algorithm requires all maps to be from the same date. This dialog may occasionally appear in error because OsmAnd uses a straight-line analysis to evaluate the route. If you are certain that all necessary maps are present and share the same date, open the "Missing map" dialog and select "Use downloaded maps" to force the application to use the existing data.

If your maps have different dates and you prefer not to update them, you must revert to the previous route calculation algorithm. To do this, enable the "OsmAnd Development" plugin under Menu – Plugins. Then, navigate to Menu – Settings – [Select Profile] – Navigation settings – Route parameters – Development – Routing type, and select "A* 2-phase.

thank you! I realized how fast even a long route is now calculated, very good indeed. but as it means that all maps out of maybe a dozen GB of data have to be renewed if you actually would only need some 100mb. hm, that maybe difficult without (w)lan ...

how much slower is A*2?

could you eventually tell the practical differences between A*2-Phase, A* classic, HH x Java and HH x C++?

Regarding speed we have blog post with comparison https://osmand.net/blog/fast-routing. Difference between HH and A* are described in this documentation article https://osmand.net/docs/user/navigation/guidance/navigation-settings?_highlight=highway&_highlight=hier&current-os=android#development-settings

your first link every usmand-user should read! great! sorry I didn't hear of that before. do I get it right, that IF i set up profiles different then high-speed I do not have to switch manually to vintage routing? or would it be better for them to work as quick as possible to be set manually? I already had realized that only high-speed routes/profiles deliver that incredibly better performance ...
