Osmand map legend

I'm a new Osmand user. It is very good but one thing annoys me - the maps have broken lines that don't seem to define anything - some follow water edges but many just run straight across the map or wander around. Anybody know what they represent?

I guess administrative boundaries. Turn them off using: Configure Map
menu, Hide, Boundaries.

Thanks Toby. That worked. I don't know what boundaries they were, but they're gone!
