abandoned railroads?

Abandoned railroads no longer show up at lower zoom levels, making it hard when driving to determine where to stop to be aligned with the railroad crossing. Can I change that for myself? How?

Also, I have told a LOT (tens of thousands) of railfans that they should all buy OSMAnd+, download the map for their state or country, switch to topo view and enjoy the delicious abandoned rails. Can we get the railroads to show up at lower zoom levels so that they don't have to make whatever change I have to make?

I think I see the problem: the Osmand map style doesn't render abandoned railways until you're down to 200'. I will bet that when you're using the routing to get directions somewhere, the map style gets temporarily switched to Osmand style rather than Topo style. I will test this the next time I go for a drive.

I haven't checked this lately, but definitely I have noticed that the
"browse" style has lots of information that the driving style does not.
In particular I have noticed that hiking trails are not rendered.

Also you can almost certainly change the driving style to topo.

You're both right I think. When you navigate with a particular mode you're choosing a profile, which, as well as routing preferences has a map style and most of the other osmand configurations specific to it.

You can configure the map for the car profile by swapping the map to it (by navigating, by clicking on the world/foot/bus/bike/etc icon or in the list at the top of the menu) and then go menu, configure map, map style (a long way down). Also look at the option 'More details' in Details (not sure if this is needed for what you want).

I would say I can find Osmand struggles to render at driving speed, particularly with details turned on, so it might not work so well for you. Alternatively, find the point you want to stop in another profile and add it to the navigation.

Hope that helps
