Had this app for a couple of years, bought the Plus version.

Using on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, with 68gb to spare on the sd card where it's storing to. Android 5.0. latest update to osm from google play.

Always had glacially slow downloads. To the point I'm going to give up on it. Just checked my server, 19 mbps currently. In Ontario, Canada.

300+ mb Ontario map download: first try, 4% after 35 minutes. Killed it. restart. Now 65% after 21 minutes.

I travel alot. I really want to use this mapping, like it, but if I can't download the maps...it's useless. I need to download all of NA, and at this rate It'll be near a month to do just that. Just in time to need an update.

Just installed an Android head unit in my truck, and this is the mapping I'd like to use. But not like this.

I've gotta be doing something wrong, please advise.

Further data:

On my carjoying head unit on my truck, using the same router, 485 mb map file is at 56% after 4 minutes.

That's quite fast actually ;)

Anyway, OsmAnd is not a big global company with servers in each city.

E.g. the www.osmand.net server seems to be located in Germany, which may be quite far from you.

You can also try to download the files directly from http://download.osmand.net/rawindexes/ using the browser (on a computer) to check if it doesn't go faster.

I also see extremely slow download of map updates when doing the updates via the app on the phone. As someone else suggested, the downloads are much faster if done on a PC:
  1. Go to the web page http://download.osmand.net/rawindexes/
  2. Download the maps you want
  3. Unzip the OBF files, and rename them to remove the "_2" from the end of the filename
  4. Connect your phone and copy the OBF files to the Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files folder
Start Osmand and you'll have the updated maps.
