I have searched the forums and have not able to find the right answer for my problems.

When I search for an address or attempt to use Navigation "by address", no street number populate in the address bar. Most addresses I've used have no numbers. The research I've done indicates that the addresses are not in OSM. I have verified that to be not true for all of the addresses I have attempted; they are all in OSM's data.

I figured out you need to turn on "Open Map" plugin in the plugin section. This did not help.

I have seen rumors flying about a "Search by internet" button or using the POIs button. I have not be able to locate these and I'm still unable to search for a street number.

What's the point of having a navigation app if I can't search for a specific street number?

Thank you,
David

I have found a solution. There is no reason why it should be this complicated.

Turn on Open Map plugin.
Turn on OsmAnd development plugin
Open Drawer Menu (menu pulled from left)
Select Legacy Search
Type Address
Select "Online Nominatim"

NO REASON for it to be that difficult.

The address search in Osmand has never been good and recent versions are so much worse that I gave up. I've installed AddressToGPS and Acastus (both available on F-Droid) and use them for address lookups then open the resulting lat/lon in Osmand. AddressToGPS uses Google for its backend while Acastus uses a Pelias server that has OpenStreetMap (and apparently some other) data.

Turns out that geocoding and matching partial (and partially incorrect) search strings is a difficult thing to get right for just one country much less the whole world (I decided to do some research on it) so I can see why Osmand might not be the best at it. But having a cumbersome but possible search become more difficult or impossible is a bit disappointing.
