I have a question to the map style / how maps are displayed.

I'm intended to switch from Oruxmaps (which uses OSM too) to OsmAnd, which seems to be a cool open source project!
As I am hiking and do MTB it is important do differentiate quality of ways.
I checked all 8 different style, but if I compare maps given by OsmAnd with that from  "Elevate Map Style" in Oruxmaps I found there a better differentiation of ways in the wood.
In OsmAnd all is dotted, while in Elevate style better (can by used with bicycle) roads are not - in comparison to real narrow or grow over ways.
Is there a chance to take over this Elevate map style or offer a customisable style?

Also the elevation lines are (even with different settings) are harder to see. Outdoor you often have bright light and the low contrast is hard to see.
I like Topo-map, but I am not interested to see the direction of streams. I know it is quit hard (espcially on this little mobile screens) to see what is really needed.

That's why I want to give this recommendation and hope I get some feedback. Try to add some screenshots later.
There is also a pdf as a legend, that helps understand meaning of symbols.

The map styles are not compatible. You cannot get it to work unless somebody manages to duplicate it for Osmand.

You can get the same or more information with the default osmand style. Switch in the map settings in Details to "display surface" and "display quality".
Switch in "routes" MTB routes on, this brings the difficulties.
You have to look for the right settings, my language is not set in English.

I understand. But despite whatever setting I chose, in Openandromaps I can distinguish ways much better. And there is no Legende to see what certain signs mean.
Guess I have to post screenshots. ...

The legend is there - in the mobile app as well as at the website

Have you tried the Tiramisu 3 style/rendertheme? I use it in the "Cartograph 2 Maps" app (as well as Elevate and Voluntary) The "Cartograph 2 Lite" map viewer is free enabling you to evaluate the paid version and the appearance of those styles/renderthemes which may also be available in OsmAnd.

I'm not affiliated with OsmAnd, but AFAIK:

Most Android openstreetmap apps rely on the mapsforge project. This open-source project gives all the code needed to display openstreetmaps in Android apps, making for relatively easy development, but with a dependency on the mapsforge project. Apps working this way include Orux, Cruiser, Atlas, Locus, BackCountry Navigator, and Cartograph. The "Elevate" rendering style works for them because they share the same code.

OsmAnd doesn't use the mapsforge code, but has its own equivalent allowing for a tighter integration with the OsmAnd project.

So rendering styles from other apps won't work in OsmAnd.

It's possible to customise the rendering of OsmAnd maps, but it needs a bit of determination (the basic info is googlable).

Hope that helps!
A.

I recently discovered a way to (in osmand) display contours clearly at low magnification.
Select the Osmand style map, then go to Configure map/Contours and increase width and density.
The disadvantage is that greater detail is displayed and therefore needs a recent model phone with a decent processor otherwise it is just too slow.
