Hallo,

English:
Osmand is still lacking to warn for speed cameras tagges as simple nodes in OSM data, makes no warning for speed cameras tagged as OSM relations.

By the way, as this resurfaces regularly, I cannot see one speed cam
here… as there must be 6 or 7 of them on my city, I guess at least one
should be correctly displayed :)

I'm asking because there was a threat long ago about it, and the
legality of it in France… Are they supposed to be displayed in France ?

They are being displayed in Germany, and I strongly doubt that osmand contains france-specific code :-).
I guess it just has to do with how they are tagged in OSM data and what osmand supports.

I even found another issue ticket about speed cams tagged as relations:

Marc,

I would argue that OsmAnd does not warn me of speed cam presence but just indicate their position on my map. Albeit with a bright orange dot!!

I did come across one case however driving near Pierrelatte last month and the big camera icon flashed up on the right hand side of the screen as I approached the *(%#& thing.

This point should be discussed on French mailing lists though I would rather keep this functionality below radar ( sorry bad joke!).
Anyway I believe the authorities are not allowed to check your phone without a warrant (commission rogatoire)

Regards

David

Is there a french mailing list ? wow, didn't know. Where is it ?

Yeah, a french cop cannot enter your car without a "commission rogatoire".
Only a customs officer can. And they have better things to do.

Hi Marc

No French mailing list for OsmAnd but check out the open street map archives at http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-fr

Or Google openstreetmap radar talk-fr there was an interesting discussion in may 2012 :
Section 5 of the BO: "produits visant a avertir ou informer de la localisation..."

So remain discreet ;)

David
