The overlay and underlay map layers provide a nice functionality. I use it often to quickly compare 2 maps using the transparency slider.
The only inconvenience here is, when you go back to the startup screen or quit Osmand, the slider is not displayed when you open the map screen again.
To redisplay the slider, I could not find another way than open the "define view" menu, deactivate the overlay and reactivate it again, having to choose the wanted overlay map again.
Do I miss some option/button or is this behavior by design?
I suggest a few improvements:
1) make the slider display setting persistent between sessions.
2) add an option to the "define view" menu, something like: "show transparency slider". (only when an overlay/underlay is active of course)
3) Do you think, the "define view" menu deserves its own shortcut icon in the top bar of the map screen, next to the globe?

Btw, I never use both underlay and overlay at the same time, but when I tried it, only 1 transparency slider was shown. instead of 2. Not a big problem of course.
Are there many people who use all 3 layers at the same time???

I have a similar problem. The red cross (slider off) in the left of the overlay slider is to near to the slider itsself (galaxy note phone).  Using the slider, the cross ist tipped

 unintentionally
 and the slider disappears.

Is it possible to enlarge the distance of the overlay-slider and the "off button" for the slider ?

The idea of two sliders if three maps are on (overlay/underlay/main map) is great too, i think.
I use a normal topographic map, google satellite and an old map of 1893 at the same time. The slider allows to see the three maps at the same time, thanks for this feature !!

hi andres pfeifer,
can you also explain how to slidecontrol enabled again when you have accidentally disabled it to?

I'm afraid point 2) of my initial post is not implemented, so the only way to show the slider again is how I described it in that post.

If the slider is disabled, I stop the overlay and start it again, the problem is, i have to activate the right overlay map too. That is time consuming.

The problem is that the cross for closing the transparency-slider is to near to the slider himself. So the slider is closed by accident if the slider is used
