I can't remember how I created this problem, but all my attempts to solve it have only made it worse.

I am running OsmAnd on a Gingerbread phone.

At some point I tried to turn on "bike parking" icons and discovered there were quite a few. Somehow, in the course of trying to turn those off, I managed to turn on a ton of other POI icons, including parking, which is *everywhere* in most cities. And gas stations. I upgraded to OsmAnd~ Version 1.8.2 hoping it would solve my problem but nothing changed. I don't see a way to reset my display preferences to the defaults. I don't see anything in "Settings" or "Configure Screen" and when I go into "Map Layers" POI is turned off (not checked) but I still see a ton of icons.

I see a lot more using "Mapnik" than I do using "Cycle Map" but it seems like with "POI..." unchecked, I shouldn't see any points of interest.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

I think you've gone to search & then clicked on one of the categories, possibly the 'Closest POI' filter, and then clicked on the bottom right icon which looks a little like a map with a position marker on it. This results in all of them being displayed on the map.

Someone will tell us the correct answer I'm sure, but in the meantime my solution is to create a new filter for something that there are not many of, such as 'Geocache' of which there will be none unless you have added them, and then click on the bottom right icon again.

Good luck

Nick

In the Map Menu you will find Map layers. Switch off the pois all together. Whe nyou switch it on again you will be asked to select the POIs you want to see.
You can't edit them while they are activated (switched on), you have to deactivate the layer and then re-activate it.
