howto add custom osm-layer?

hi,
is it possible to add custom layers, i.e. the osm hiking-map or own
tile-sources, so that they are choosable like mapnik/cloudmate/
osmarender/.... ? Using openlayers i'm just setting the source
location/tiling-sheme and the max zoom-level. An easy way to do this
(via config.file) without installing the sdk would be very useful for
that great app.

Hi,
one danger of a feature like this is that it can get complicated, when
there are different projections, resolutions, tilings involved. If you
go through OpenLayers and Tilecache mailing list archives you'll find
infinite number of question regarding tiling schemes, resolutions,
projections and making it all work together...

That said, I think it's problem worth solving and hope that one day
the answer to your question will be yes :-).

It is possible with mapcreator. menu add customlayer. Create a definition, download some tiles, create s .sqlite databases via the menu of mapcreator and copy the sqlite database and the layer definition file into the tiles directory on the phones sd.
