Hello Everybody.

Here is Bas Roufs from The Netherlands, new to OsmAnd.

During the past 2, 3 or 4 years, I have created 1677 "bookmarks":  favourite places and points of orientation pinpointed at the map "Maps.me": while cycling through Western and Central Europe or while planning such routes. "Maps.me" or "Maps with me" is another interface working together with Open Streetmap at Android - at present in my case Android 5.0 - however, still without bicycle routes.

In my quest for a better bicycle route planner, I stumbled upon OsmAnd - so, after some trials with the free version, I have bought now the paid version. Right now, I am installing the maps of Europe, while writing this message.

However, I am still looking for a way to import my maps.me "bookmarks" (pinpointed, favourite places) into OsmAnd - possibly to "Favourites". The 1677 bookmarks are in the .kmz-file attached to this mail. I have uploaded this file into http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/ and converted them into the .gpx file attached to this mail.

So far, so good. Now I want to do the next step: to make the 1677 favourite places visible in my OsmAnd maps. Is there a way to import the .gpx file into OsmAnd? Or is it better to use one of my file managers at Android to copy the file into some specific OsmAnd folder?

Yours.

Bas G. Roufs.

Hello Everybody.

After a bit of research, I have renamed the .gpx file as "favorites.gpx". After doing so, I have copied that file into:
/storage/sdcard0/Android/data/net.osmand.plus

However, when launching again OsmAnd and going to 'Favorites', the favourite places do not show up - not at a list, also not at a map. I do not see any import or refresh button.

Can anybody help me to get my maps.me favourites into OsmAnd?

Thanks. Respectfully Yours.

Bas G. Roufs.

Hello Greg.

Not yet.

However, try the following.

Launch a file manager at each of your mobiles.

Look for favourites.gpx or favorites.gpx via one of the folders indicated in my previous mail.

Copy it to your PC or mail it to your self.

Open the file with some text editor, back it up and start trimming, editing, etc. one copy.

Do the same with the gpx file at your other phone.

Bring the result of this work together in one single file, copied into favourites.gpx and favorites.gpx.

After doing all this, reboot your phones and delete the favourites files at your phones.

Reboot again and copy favourites.gpx and favorites.gpx into the appropriate folders at each of your phones.

Reboot again and after this, start again OsmAnd.

Now, you should see your revised favourites at both of your phones.

Let me know whether something like this works.

Yours.

Bas.

Hello Bas,

I just saw your message so my answer may be a bit late. I have been doing something similar and faced a few problems to have my points loaded as POI. At the end of the day I made it worked by copying my .gpx file in the "osmand - > tracks" folder. Then in the osmand app you can go to the "GPX Track" menu and choose the one you want to show.
I have also found that a handy way to do it is to put all of the GPS points in just one file with a "csv" format, and then transforming this "csv" file into .gpx (using gpsbabel): this way you can easily activate/desactivate all of the points at the same time, you can easily add a name and description to each point etc

Hope it helps,

Have a good day,
Arturo

I also saw your post only now.
The problem is that the favourites.gpx is not a real gpx file. I made a few modifications. See the attached file.

You can rename it, or simply download it to your phone, double-click it, choose OsmAnd (if multiple gpx applications are installed), import into favorites (Dutch option "Importeer")
