Hi, I've seen this app in Play Store, it's a copy of OsmAnd with maps from Argentina pre-loaded, banners inside, and a name for the app that get first in search when you look up for "map argentina".

The only place where it says that is based on OsmAnd it's when you click on "Sobre" button ("About" in Spanish). Play Store page doesn't say a word about OSM or OsmAnd.

I see you use GPLv3 but I'm not an expert about licenses. I want to know if the creators of this app did is legal.

I think it could be a very good way to get people know about OSM and OsmAnd.

Hi,

I don't think it is legal, because we have quite complicated LICENSE and usually person should contact to be sure. And at least a link to original project should be provided.

Best Regards,
Victor

It is not. If they don't cite original authors and copyright, nor offer
source codes for download, they are violating the license.
I'm not sure what exactly Osmand authors can do about it, but I guess
they can request removal of such app and money this app got from users.

Could someone check if also this app is violating the OsmAnd licence? Seems so.

For Nogago, it doesn't look like violation, but it could be some missing details. I would say they should mention OsmAnd on the Google Play description, but it is a tricky question are they obliged or not (at least they mention it in About dialog).

Best Regards,
Victor
