Hi,

How can I use a cycling GPX track, created on my pc, in OSMAND?
I do not have any experience with Osmand so I could use some help to start working with it.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,

To make sure I explained myself well....
Problem is that I cannot find the storage map on my mobile.
According to the info provide by the settings of my app, I should put a GPX track in SDcard/Android/data/net.osmand/files
When trying to copy/paste a gpx tarck into this location I cannot find it.
I have Osmand 2.6.5 on my mobile/

Thank you for helping me.

Are you using the Android version of OsmAnd? If so, the GPX should go in .../osmand/tracks

And can you find the Osmand data folder itself?

Have you downloaded any map? As application comes with no map.
The vector map extension is obf.

Important is also Android version and Android version dependent access policies.

The easiest way is to put the file "somewhere" on the phone, where you can find it, find the file in a file explorer and simply click the file to "run" or "share" it. If everything is set up correctly, one of the possibilities how to open the file would be Osmand. You then get asked to choose between importing waypoints or the route (for navigation purposes, choose the second).
Technically, the route will be moved in the /tracks/imported subfolder, but this takes the guessing out of it and it finds the correct folder for you.

I haven’t downloaded any map but I just want to put a gpx track from my pc onto my mobile and then open it via Osmand.

Step one. If you have not done so you must download some maps of your country or the areas you want to see on your phone.

Too download maps on MY phone,
On the bottom of the screen with my phone held vertical on the bottom left touch the 3 bars
When the side menu opens about 1/2 way down you will see Download Maps    Touch that
This will bring up a list of countries which you may use and you can download

I think what Luc is asking is how to load a GPX (not a map) so that it's visible in OsmAnd.  Ordinarily, the GPX would go in the osmand/tracks folder.  But, as I read this, I don't think he's seeing the Osmand data folder.  Much less any subfolders.

When searching for the "/OsmAnd data folder", make sure you're pointing to the *current* repository directory.
To discover what the path is, you can simply open the OsmAnd menu and navigate to Settings->General settings section.

Once you're there, just check the Data Storage folder entry.

E. g.:  on my phone it is set to:
/storage/9CC3-64BD/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files (which is on an external SD card),
so I expect gpx tracks to be located in /storage/9CC3-64BD/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/tracks directory.

Actually, I don't have any gpx there, only several tracks I recorded with OsmAnd itself, saved to
/storage/9CC3-64BD/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/tracks/rec folder.

Cheers,
Max - Italy

Hi Bart,

This is correct.

I have downloaded the map for Belgium.

Problem is can not load a GPX on my phone because I can not see any OSmand map in my directory of my phone.

I hope I explain it correctly….

Stop trying to work your way from PC connection, you are getting nowhere.
Disconnect, and work for a while on the phone only.

1.Look in OSMAND for the correct directory where data are stored (settings - common settings - data directory).
2.Close OSMAND.
3.Open file explorer on the phone, look for this directory. Can you find it?

---
Workaround for directory not showing, not knowing the correct directory:

Getting gpx on the phone: Connect to PC, put the gpx in any directory on the phone you can see. Disconnect.

Go back to the phone and its file explorer. Find the file, copy it into the correct directory (1)

If you couldn't find it, you didn't look for the correct directory - repeat (1) or ignore the problem completely, and simply open the gpx file in the file explorer FROM THE PHONE. One of the possibilities how to open it will be "Import in OSMAND". Choose import track, not import POIs (not sure about exact terminology used).

This will work all the time.

Alternatively - if you are looking for the correct directory and if you won't look up the solutions given in other threads - reboot your phone every time before connecting to PC.

BTW, Luc, what phone do you have (make & model) and what Android version?
In order to get the latter information, you just open Settings menu and look for "Device info" section: there's an entry like, i.e. "Android version: Android 6.0.1"

Hi all,

Problem is solved.

I found out I could not see the “Net.Osmand” map due to the settings on my pc.

Everything is working fine now.

Greetz.

If you connect your android device to a windows PC, you can explore the file structure in windows explorer
On my tablet, I copy and paste .gpx tracks into the tracks folder

The stock location is here on my tablet
This PC\Galaxy Note 10.1 2\Tablet\Android\data\net.osmand.plus\files\tracks

After I moved the app to my SD card, the tracks folder is here
This PC\Galaxy Note 10.1 2\Card\Android\data\net.osmand.plus\files\tracks
