I went for a motorcycle adventure last weekend. Running Osmand 2.9.3 on a Kyocera android phone. I had a GPX track prepared. However we started about 12 miles away from closest point on the track. I started a route with 'Use visible track to navigate = YES'. Osmand showed a straight line toward the track (non routable at all). So until we reached the track location we were on our own navigating. Is there a way to ask Osmand to navigate toward a GPX track or a marker on the track? Once we were on the track Osmand worked great.

Navigate in two steps.

1. Create a waypoint at the start of your GPX track.

2. Navigate to that waypoint using the map.

3. Once at waypoint. Start a new navigation "using GPX track".

You can do it in one step. From the navigation menu, press the gear icon and enable "Calculate route for first and last route segment".

Bart,

I am aware of that option but we joined the GPX track somewhere in the middle. it is a long 200mi track so it wasn't practical to traverse it from the beginning. Would creating a waypoint at a desired point on GPX, as Metaluc suggested, work? By work I mean a single navigation which would lead to the waypoint first and then continue along the GPX.

I think that would work  For the first navigation,  press somewhere on the GPX where you want to head, then press Go to navigate to it.  Once you arrive, press the directions arrow again, specify at the prompt that you want to follow that specific GPX, and press Go, sarting, per Metaluc, a second navigation.

Just curious, when you were trying to navigate to the 200 mile track, did you have "Pass along entire track" unchecked?  (As well as "Calculate...for first and last route segment" checked.)  I would have thought that would work, but I haven't tried it.

"Pass along entire track" was unchecked. Apparently, "calculate first and last route segment" was unchecked too, which is why Osmand wasn't navigating toward the GPX track but just drawing a lazy straight line. You may want to think of a better name for the latter option. I am pretty sure no user can understand what it means from its name. And if it is cryptic then it might at least be shorter!

Just to be clear, I'm not a developer.  But I agree: though no better name comes to mind. I only figured it out through experimentation.

No problem.  The YouTube channel is strictly an avocation.
