Hallo eveybody, i'm trying to prepare some track for a Jordan travel next month. I'm writing track with basecamp a garmin application for gps. I can export all the tracks with the gpx format but I'm not sure what to do to use them into osmand. I've tried many time but the navigation that should be precise is not so. I mean it try to go from poin A to B but the navigation reads every turn on the road not just like normal navigation, Very boring. How to use better the gpx route navigation? Thnaks

The problem is that as you’ve created the GPX using another program, OamAnd is navigating the GPX, not the underlying map.  I have yet to see a perfect solution.  Here’s my attempt:  https://youtu.be/mMcw4kYmfPk

(The video was made using the Android version of OsmAnd, which has a different interface and feature set than iOS version. But the basic ideas are the same.)

Hi Bart thanks for reply, I found a solution. As I was a garmin gps user I was used to prepare my route on my computer at home. Now I do the same with osmand with a pretty good result. I use Garmin basecamp with openstreet maps (same as osmand) installed. I download maps from here http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl . Later I plan all my routes and sava as gpx file. Unfortunately garmin gpx file are not recognized by osmand and next step will be converting them to a more accurate gpx file with gpsbabel downloadable free from their site. Finally I upload to osmad the gpx tracks and as I've fixed all intermediate waypoint the app will calculate the route better. I hope this could be usefull

Hi, I’m very new at OsmAndMaps and routing in general but I make routes on Strava and export GPX file and email to myself, retrieve on my phone and and I’m out of OsmAndMaps.  Perhaps as I have the pay version of Garmin. Can’t explain more as I’m not knowledgeable in such technical matters but hopefully this could be of some assistance.

Thanks Drlukas.  Just to clarify, what do you mean by: "... as I've fixed all intermediate waypoints, the app will calculate the route better." How are you fixing the waypoints?  Have you enabled "Calculate route between items" in the settings?

Hi, with the garmin app I draw the route fixing intermediate waypoint where exactly I want to pass and uploading to osmand with the "Calculate route between items" I simply follow directions. Please check the attached route. What I found very complicate is to simulate navigation, I think osmand is a little complicate in setting too many menu.....

If you enable "Calculate route between items", OsmAnd calculates to route to your destination using the intermediate waypoints you've specified.  And as OsmAnd has calculated the route, the underlying map is used.  From my experience and reports here on the board, the process isn't always perfect, but I'm glad it seems to be working for you. And it certainly helps that you've used OpenStreetMap to do the calculation.

If you don't enable the option, OsmAnd just follows the GPX without taking the underlying map into account.  That's when you get a notification of every turn--a turn being simply a deviation of some minimum angle from a straight line. As not all GPXs contain intermediate waypoints, this may be the only choice.

At least that's my understanding.  Corrections welcome.
