I tried to read some docs, but not all (:-) ) and it is a bit unclear to me, how to get a list of campgrounds (from http://www.uscampgrounds.info/statemaps.html ) into osmand.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If a campground is already entered in the OSM map, you can find it by: Search/POI/Tourism/camp_site.

You can contribute to the map with adding missing campgrounds as POIs.

- read http://code.google.com/p/osmand/wiki/CreatingKMLFile
- download your camp site csv.
- run through gpsbabel like "gpsbabel -i csv -f CANADA_CAMP.csv  -o osm,tagnd="tourism:camp_site",created_by -F CANADA_CAMP.osm"
- follow the rest of the article mentioned in the first bullet.

Please note the licensing terms on the uscamgrounds site: for your personal use only, so don't go loading the data into osm directly, just your own device :-)

That's exactly what I meant and why I described it like that. You download the data and create your own poi.obf for your own personal use.
I have also a multitude of those poi files for myself where the "base files" are generously shared from internet sites but only for personal use (mine in this case).

But thanks for mentioning it in case I wasn't clear enough in my description.
