Yes, what else can I say?
I mean, the safety aspect associated with using Android Auto is understandable: let drivers do as little as possible themselves and concentrate on the traffic.
But even my old Garmin Drive-smart allows me to turn the “Avoid highways” option on or off during navigation.
So Android Auto forces you to stop and disconnect Osmand from Android Auto, for example, to change profiles.
I think the reality is that you press buttons on the car radio and smartphone WHILE DRIVING, for example to change the profile, and I think that's much worse.
I enjoy traveling in my motorhome, and when I have time, I avoid highways. If I have even more time, I avoid federal highways, and if I have a lot more time, I even avoid country roads.
Osmand then navigates me wonderfully along district and side roads. So I have three profiles (car, motorhome fast—without highways, and motorhome slow—without highways).
Now, when I'm looking for a parking space (Osmand overlay points), I have to stop again, disconnect, reconnect, and continue driving.
That's why I think (for me) it makes sense to use an Android tablet and set everything up with a few taps of my finger—and if it seems too dangerous, then my passenger can do it!
Of course, I could use my smartphone instead of a tablet, but it's just too small for me.
But I think OSMAND is great anyway. I'm just annoyed about Android Auto!
Yes, that's how I see it.
