Using OSMAND 2.1.1, with contour lines plugin v1 installed.
Downloaded map file Canada_Quebec_northamerica.obf, it shows Québec correctly.

Also using OSMANDs map file manager, downloaded srtm file Canada_Quebec_northamerica.srtm.obf.

Now I get the error popup "The version of index Canada_Quebec_northamerica.obf is not supported"
each time I run OSMAND, and contour lines are not displayed (at any zoom level)

Both contour lines and hillshade checkboxes are enabled.
Hillshade is shown correctly, using downloaded sqllite file for Quebec.

Bug?  Incorrect linking in OSMAND file manager downloads to a wrong version of srtm data file?

Have also tried using OSMAND map file manager to download contour line (srtm) file for another country, just to see if the Quebec srtm file was an isolated error. Same error message with the srtm file for another country.

Failing a solution, what earlier version of OSMAND works correctly using the internally downloaded srtm files and the v1 contour lines plugin?

Thanks
John

Do I understand it well, that it works for externally downloaded files ?
Or not at all ?

As OSMAnd 2.1.1 works for me and Czech Republic / Slovakia / Austria.
But I use it for long time since 1.8.x or 1.9.x
and I do not remember if I downloaded it internally or externally.

hm, I use with OSMAnd 2.1.1 old versions of SRTM, from sep 25, 2013,
therefore not the latest one from July 30.

So, latest version of SRTM files can have data issue,
and it may or may not be an issue of OSMAnd.

Contour lines are not shown at all. Works neither for internally downloaded srtm file, or one from http://osmand.net/srtm-countries/ and manually transferred (but these are also from 2015). In both cases, the same error message is shown.

Could you supply a link where I could download an old version srtm file from sept 2013, so I could try with that?

Try this  http://ulozto.net/xLcVnH7N/czech-republic-europe-srtm-obf-zip
Interesting is the zip has about double size, compared to http://osmand.net/srtm-countries/

Thanks. Tried that 2013 srtm Czech file, downloaded and extracted the obf file from the zip to the srtm sub-folder of the OSMAND maps folder.
Same error message format: 'The version of index Czech-republic_europe.srtm.obf is not supported'
Under Manage map files -> LOCAL, the czech and quebec srtm files are correctly identified and grouped by OSMAND in the list under Contour lines data.
But they don't work and they throw this error message.
