On my Android tablet directory /mnt/sdcard/ in reality is intern
memory. Where /mnt/external_sd/ is the microSD card.

Good intentions of Osmand to install on extern memory is prevented in
this way.

Is there a way to at least force Offline data to a user choosen dir?

Under settings -> general there is a point where you can choose your own directory (in my version it's the last one). It should show the actual used directory (for example /mnt/sdcard - change it to /mnt/external_sd should do the trick...)

How could I overlook that! Thanks for pointing me to the 'General
settings | Storage directory'. It was nice that Osmand said that the
user should care for actualy moving the dir.

FS File Explorer could copy the osmand dir. Then renamed the original
dir to osmandx and restarted Osmand. This worked.

Then went to osmand.net and downloaded and installed the latest build.
This runs ok keeping the new dir.

All solved. Thanks.

I must be really blind :(
I cannot find an entry to change the directory in my Galaxy S2 running
Osmand 0.5.3 beta.

Under settings->general I have only these options:
Use Internet
Max zoom level
Auto zoom map
Show aspect of view
Rotate Map
Map screen orientation
Position on map
Use trackball

Can someone point me in the right direction and open a blinded man his
eyes?
Thanks,
Bjoern

I think your version of Osmand is older than when we introduced the
path to be customizeable in the setting.

Please update, for instance via: http://download.osmand.net/latest-night-build/OsmAnd-development.apk

The new version does not simply install over very old versions like
yours, I think, so you would have to uninstall yours first. Please
remember to first go to Favorites/Menu/export to backup you favorites,
and import them in the new version the same way.

All other offline data like maps will be kept in place. But I think
these very old Osmand versions still used an older map format, so maps
may have to be updated as well.
