Hi all,

I have been trying to search for a house number (37 Dew St, Yarrabilba). When I enter it into the search box, I get no results until I press "online search". The website mentions something about needing a vector map to make offline searches work. Is this the same or different from the map of our area that we download when we start using the app? Otherwise, is there any way to enable online search by default?

The maps from Download map/Regions are in vector format. I don't think there's a way to default to online search.

Is there anything that could be causing the search not to work without using the online search if I have already downloaded the map of my area?

When I do an address search I first select city or town then streets within that city and finally it gives me a list of numbers of buildings in the street.

Is this the search you are using?  Or are you doing something else?

Is there something else that might cause it not to work?  Well does OpenStreetMap have a building in it with that address?

The building is indeed on OSM: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/565561288

I checked it in JOSM and can see no reason why it wouldn't show on an address search.

Could the issue be that I only recently added the building within the last week or so? I wasn't able to view the building until I got OsmAnd Live.

John, I am simply using the search tool and entering in "37 dew st yarrabilba"  which then gives me a list of "Dew Street", "Yarrabilba" and "Yarrabilba Drive". If I search by selecting the suburb followed by the street name, the only options that I am given are "Everglade - Dew Street" and "Orb - Dew Street" as well as Online Search. Is there normally numbers as well as the intersections as options?

Thanks,

Kai

Typically osmand offline uses a map that is a month or even two old.  It's moderately expensive to download a new map every day in bandwidth etc.  So that's probably the problem.

Somewhere there will be a date on the map which will give you a good indication of when the snapshot was taken.  Even then allow three days for it to be processed.
