Hello everybody,
as I wrote in subject I am looking for the best settings in order to use Osmand with display off while long walking or biking trip, meaning all those case where you can't charge the phone while navigating.
I tried different ones but I'm not sure about saving the meaning and the influence on battery life.
Any suggestion?
Thx
Guido

Maybe, this can also help :-)

But in general.
When biking, I doubt you can turn off the gps when you want osmand to follow you on route correctly. So wake up should be set to 0 as continuous.
Other settings are than irrelevant. Maybe log tracking can consume more cpu power, when setting to log the track in smaller intervals.

When walking, it might be, that the wake up could be set to around 30 seconds, or maybe less. However, note, that this means Osmand will be
without GPS for 30 seconds. When you go wrong in that period, it might take osmand another 2-3 more gps fix to correct or alert you.

Turning off 3G,Wifi and everything else will of course save your battery more.

Best regards,
Pavol

What I do, In general I have set the brightness of Android to a lower level (eg 35), this saves a lot and for me it is still visible

Hello Pavol,
thanks for suggestions. As you already read in my issue post now everything seems to work fine, I will try longer wake up intervals only to see if this way I can save battery and not loose the road. Thank for the link of solar charger.
Bye

To enhance battery life, I would suggest operating in airplane mode and turn off wifi with the screen brightness as low as possible.  But you should never go out on a long journey with just one battery.  Find a spare or two from your cell phone provider and you can travel a very long way without fear of getting lost.  My provider has given me several free batteries for various reasons.  Unlike the iPhone, every Android phone allows battery access.
