Great maps, but I wish that the different types of water were in blue colour as in "normal" maps.

Maybe in next builds!??

OsmAnd normally displays water in blue.
Which renderer are you using and where is the water not blue?

I use version 1.7.5 with  the newest maps.

The colour of waters is a kind of grey. For me difficult to see.

Can you attach a screen shot?
The rendering colors are definitely blue for water, so it is really strange that it is grey for you. In my case it is perfectly blue.

As Max already asked: Do you use another render file?

Osmand installed just out of the box.

You can see what I mean by the screenshot of Amsterdam(car navigation) on the webpage.
Two main roads are in light blue and dark blue while the water is a kind of greenish grey-blue.

Especially difficult to see if it is a small water. Also the difference with buildings and streets is minimal

Well the shades of blue in the screenshots on the website look fine to me.

The first question is, of course, what is a "normal" map for Joop, which depends
on purpose (car navigation, waterway navigation, hiking) as well as on cultural
background.

In Europe, motorways are often rendered blue, thus the water needs
to differ from that.

For car navigation, water is just a landscape feature such as meadows,
forests or residential areas, so it is good to have that in more pale tones.

I have sampled the R/G/B values in the screenshot on the website:

66/28/255 for the proposed route ahead (dark blue)
132/154/255 for the motorway
181/211/214 for the water features, which has a bit more R/G in it
to make it lighter, but well suited for the purpose of car navigation.

How distinguishable that is for a particular user might also depend on
his screen adjustment and calibration.

The new UniRS rendering style has a more intensive water colour:
https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd-resources/blob/master/rendering_styles/UniRS.render.xml

I like it.

I agree with you when you're talking about car navigation.
Then the most important things are the roads.
(but for normal car navigation there are lots of other programs with almost the same quality)

I think that the strength of Osmand is the fact that you can go off-road(bike, pedestrian) with the maps and then is the color of water (the difference with the surroudings) more important.

Maybe I need better glasses and tablet;-)

Thanks for your reaction!

P.S.: I meant by "normal" maps the old-fashioned paper maps

Guys I have to undig this old topic I have the same problem this is extremely frustrating. I cannot sail cause the water colour is not different enough from land its very hard to distinguish it from land. It's Osmand Plus 3.0.4 on android. How to make make lake blue again ?
