I am suddenly unable to download offline maps in the "Manage Map Files" section. For example, the "World Overview Map" 31/07/2014.
It starts to download, but at about 5% downloaded an error comes up:

"I/O Error: Data Error".

If I try to download "Australia/Ocenia" (sic) 4/2/2015, it also starts to download until I get a different error at around 6% downloaded.

"I/O Error: Unknown Format".

I am using OsmAnd 1.9.5 (Free version).

I have tried numerous times, and on 2 different phones (one a Sony XPeria and one a Blackberry 10 with Android emulation). Both are running the same version of OsmAnd and both give the exact same error messages.

As an experiment, I tried downloading NorthAmerica / Bermuda. This worked fine; although it is a much smaller file than the other 2.

Any ideas? I have never had problems with downloading maps in the past.

silly question:

enough free space on your device to store that map?

I have 5GB free, which should be enough. The download is 400MB.

I'm having the same problem, I have OsmAnd installed on three devices and two work perfectly and have done for over a year.  I had to do a factory reset on my Asus TF100 tablet and the problem started as soon as I downloaded the current version.  The other two devices still operate and update without a problem.

So, what version(s) are you using on each device? I am using 1.9.5 on both devices.
What version are the ones that work? Are they the same?

I tried downloading the World Seamarks file and it downloaded fine. It looks like it is a problem with some files and not others?

Also, I tested with different versions; 1.9.5, 1.9.4, 1.9.2 and 1.8.3. All give the same results.

In case anyone else is having trouble with this:

I found out you can download the .obf files using a web browser, directly from this page:

http://download.osmand.net/rawindexes/

To download successfully, I had to click on each link, then save as the suggested filename ("download.php").
I then renamed the file to a ".zip" extension and unzipped the file.

I found that if I renamed the file to a .zip extension before downloading, the zip file would be corrupt and not unzip. Perhaps this is what is happening when I try to download in OsmAnd??

I then copied the files to my device, under the "osmand" folder.

This worked!
