Is there any way to embed GPX file into the base map so that recorded routes appear as road / tracks?

No. That's not possible.

A work-around would be to display them constantly on the map via the GPX-track feature. But I guess that is not what you want.

Another option is to write "something" yourself to convert the gpx-tracks to "ways" in OSM format, merge them to one OSM file and convert them to obf.

What you really want may be to create road/track data in http://openstreetmap.org,
to get them later reflected in OBF as roads/tracks...

Only if they are really dedicated tracks.
If these are your personal hiking tracks then you better not upload them into openstreetmap.

In any case, uploading to OSM they would be treated as individual track/road segments, right?  That wouldn’t achieve the purpose that I think is being asked - representing the track itself as a unit object.  I might just point out that the new GPX rendering code in OsmAnd is super-quick for the track-part itself (i.e., just the basic track/path) and you could easily have dozens if not hundreds of tracks displayed at the same time with no problems.  That’s probably as good a solution as is possible for now.  Just load all the tracks, and they will forevermore display over the top of the map, when visible.

@Andrew: Has your code now been added to the repository?

The basic track drawing has been included, yes - as far as I am aware.

It should be good for this sort of use.  That is, displaying multiple GPX tracks quickly.
Note that it’s the track drawing that is super-quick - if you have all sorts of icon overlays (POI, etc) that’s not going to be any quicker

I mean OSM tag highway=*  ;-)

I may do not understand , why the user wants to display them as roads/tracks, if the tracks/roads already are there and displayed so.
And If they are not, why not to rather added them to OSM as way elements ?

But I am an old dog, I may got all confused :-).
