Dear Sirs,
I live in Padua, Italy and I use OsmAnd.
Since few months (maybe 3), I noticed a strange introduction of a a couple of non-existent streets near to where I live.
I thought I was an error and I waited for its correction. Anyway the error was present also in the last maps I dowwnload, ie those released in May, so I went to OSM to see what was the problem. With much surprise I did not find any error there, so I don't know if the error was correct in these last days or if, for any reasion it is a peculiar problem of OsmANd maps.
Below I report the screenshot of this zone as shown in the OSM site and in the OsmAnd app of my phone.
In the OsmAnd map I highlight in red the uncorrect area.
For your references, the URL at which the area could be viewed in OSM is:

CORRECT (OSM)

UNCORRECT (OSMAND):

I used the achavi tool to investigate this area of OSM, and it looks to me that an error was introduced a few months ago which was corrected on the 11th May: this fits with your description so should be corrected with the next OsmAnd map update.

If I'm right, I'm amazed that such a major OSM error wasn't picked-up sooner!

Hi Leopoldo :-)
as A Thompson said, the error might have been corrected in OSM database but not yet imported in OsmAnd maps.

Just remember that "regular" OsmAnd maps are updated about once a month, while OSM data updating is almost istantaneous.
If you have the OsmAnd Live service enabled you should already see that modification, since updates for Live maps are published several times per day.

Anyway, please continue "keeping an eye" on your surroundings and the places you know well, since in the last weeks/months several users have been reported for vandalism on Italy, i.e. introducing non-existing streets or renaming already present ones with fancy names.

Those errors are particularly difficult to detect for non-resident mappers who don't know the exact street geometry and toponyms, so checks from local users are precious.
Should you notice something strange and suspect it could be made by a vandal, please open the way/node history, take note  of the last modifier's username and send a message to the Italian OSM Mailing list (also visible here: http://gis.19327.n8.nabble.com/Italy-f5324173.html): if it is the case, that user will be reported to the OSM DWG (Data Work Grroup) .

Also look, in the site named above, for threads containing the words "vandalismo" (vandalism) and "utente pasticcione" ("messy user"): the anomalies you spotted may be due to an inexperenced user (whick would possibly cooperate), but also be part of a wider "intervention" by an already reported mis-user.

BTW: I've checked the area you mentioned (file: uncorrect.jpg):  it looks like someone accidentally hooked to a node belonging to "Riviera Tiso da Camposampietro" and dragged it around. It happens, some times.

Ciao Max!
resto e' a senso unico.
Ancora tanti cari saluti!
Ciao,
Leopoldo
