iPAD iOS v9 How to get gpx tracks viewable in OsmAnd Maps

I am trying OSMAND is because it allows import of a gpx track file for a route to follow, which is viewable for offline navigation on OSMAND base maps.     I am trying to clarify the steps necessary to make this work.   Any comments would be greatly appreciated, this is very new to me.

 

1  BASE MAP

The first few OSMAND maps are free, then you buy the rest.  I have the world map installed, BC and Normandy in France.

 

2.  GPX TRACK FILE.

Generate your gpx track file or find it online.   I use www.mapmyride.com  to plan cycle trips in advance, then export the gpx file.      To import a gpx file into osmand, first email it to yourself.     I put on a desired name, e.g     Paris-St-Michel.gpx

In the mail program, click on the gpx file attachement and it opens up.     To direct that gpx file to OSMAND so Osmand can import the gpx file, tap once top right of the screen, so the top horizontal bar opens up to give you choices.   Tap once the AIRDROP upload icon.  Select “Copy to OsmAnd Maps”.     That brings up an IMPORT DATA window saying “choose what to import.  Choose GPX Track.    Then the MY TRIPS window  in the OSMAND APP comes up….if there is nothing new there, wait for the file to download, this may take 10 min?   After doing this once, with nothing showing up, I did it again, then later 2 files showed up that were the Paris-St-Michel.gpx  track.  However the filename came across as  the date!    2016-06-16.   The assigned file name did not come through.   Does anyone know how to rename a trip filename in the OSMAND app, on an iPad?  

 

Within OSMAND, you acces the list of imported gps tracks by going MENUE/MAPS/TRIPS, there you see what gpx tracks have been imported via the email transfer process.  From here you can select which tracks to turn on for OSMAND.

i have had the app crash quite a bit.
