Hello,

I installed a NAND Android ROM from the XDA forum, works perfect.
It's not any official Android ROM because it will never officially be
developed for the HTC HD2 ...

My problem is as follows, I installed Osman from Android Market,
tested it, works great ... so I bought it ...

I had to format my MicroSD because of a file failure and wanted to
reïnstall Osmand ...

Android Market now states that Osmand WON'T run on my HTC HD2 and
won't install ...

Why did you exclude HTC HD2 ... ? It was running fine on my phone
before I had to format my MicroSD ... !

Regards,
Phoenix

I've take a look at Android market. You phone is not in included neither in excluded. It is simply not listed.

Use : http://download.osmand.net/latest-night-build/ night build while your problem will not be resolved. Will take a look.

Currently the problem only with Osmand+? Or with Osmand as well?

I have the same problem with my HD2. Neither OSM nor OSM+ are
available to me. Increasingly, I'm seeing that apps are listed as not
compatible with my device--very frustrating, since I know they really
are compatible. I'd like to buy the full version, but since it's "not
compatible", I cannot. Currently it's also telling me that I've
downloaded the maximum number of files (5), and so I can't download
anything else.

Another question I have is this: Why don't more developers make their
APKs available on their own website. I know the free version is
available on OSMAND's, and I really appreciate that. But I'd much
rather pay OSMAND directly instead of shoving 30% at Google...and get
the APK directly...and to avoid any problems of the Market telling me
it won't work.

I wonder if the "compatibility issue" has something to do with Google
trying to eliminate devices that aren't officially supported and thus
the chances that the app won't work correctly. Obviously the HD2 was
originally a Windows Mobile phone.

There is one more location where the application is available http://www.androidpit.de/.

For us it is good to deal with some markets, it is much easier. If you consider Paypal, it also takes some amount of money :) Everyone takes.

I guess for most people Android Market just works, so sorry again for troubles. But there is no easy way to satisfy everyone as I see.

The HD2 isn't there, as it is originally an windows mobile phone! So, google has probably
changed it's checks on android market. Probably, if the ROM can identify the HD2 as some
other phone, that has originally android, market would work?
Does the market work for you for other applications?

Best regards,
Pavol

Victor: I see your point.  But, stll Paypal's % is far less than Google's, and without the growing list of limitations.  I'll look into AndroidPit.  Is there no other way to get the plus version? :)

Pavol: That's exactly what I suspected.  Unfortunately the device has to be on the list to begin with.  The nice thing about that is you can easily mark a certain phone as incompatible, but if it's not on the list...there is no way to make it compatible with the market. :(

Is anyone aware of a way of making your phone appear as a different model to get around some of these silly compatibility issues?

Hi Dave!

According to the last question, I think you should try to ask on forums where the ROMs are created and maintained. There is higher probability of answer on your question. I think on rooted phones can be customized almost anything...

Best regards,
Pavol

Thanks, Pavol.  You make a good point and you're definitely right--the last question belongs somewhere else.  It will likely be a big problem for lots of other people using the same phone.  I'll check with those people over on XDA.
