Long time user, and recommender of OSMAND, but not any more....
Over the last 12 months or so, OSMAND has become unusable.
Not sure if it has something to do with my location, but...
If you try and navigate from:to, putting an address in, works fine, until: if you deviate AT ALL, it will go into search (forever circling, circle), occasionally if you get back on the original route, it will find itself, but again, if you deviate, will basically NEVER recalculate.
Used to swear by OSMAND, and recommend it everywhere - not any more - useless...
What am I doing wrong??
I am in Australia, I know that we aren't the preferred location - Specific addresses over here are not findable - and, yes, I have spent a bit of time personally trying to update it over the years...
And yet, have just found Organic Maps (almost the same??), and it seems to work fine??
Thanks.

Do you have a custom routing.xml (or however that is spelled)?

I'm in US MA, and find that it continues to recalculate when going off
route. This happens a lot, as I often set the destination and drive the
way I want, so that I can see the map (possible osm fixes) and also have
nav if I hit a detour.

Just today, with osmand 5.2.13 (f-droid), I was navigating a route that
is maybe 10 km. At an intersection, It wanted me to continue straight
500 m and then turn left, and then go a few km. I decided to turn left
at the interection, basically going 500m and then the road turns right
and goes 500m and I turned left on the same road I would have been on.
Two extra turns, same distance or close enough, and avoiding what passes
for a busy town center and two traffic lights in my area. But the point
is that I went off route. I was only maybe 200m down the road when it
showed me the new route -- which was the way I and other locals like to
drive, and that I followed.

A long way of saying that I had a recalculation experience that met
expectations. Quick recalculate, and recalculated route was good.

Thanks Greg.
Any thoughts as to why it worked? Haven't changed anything, recently?

There are a really large number of settings.

I just clicked around and found settings, with my values in parens.

driving profile
navigation settings
route parameters
recalculate
min distance (ENABLED, 100m)
in case of reverse direction (ENABLED)
routing type (HH x C++)
GPX approximation (GEOMETRY-BASED (C++, FAST))
osmand live data (ENABLED)

But these settings all feel very default.

Check the min distance; if that were 10 km it would explain it.

Hi! Are you using regular point-to-point navigation or following a GPX track? If you are using regular navigation, could you please provide the coordinates of the start and destination points so we can test it? You can send it to sup...@osmand.net.

Thanks, dmpr.
I 'think' it is for both, but definitely for p2p.
Unfortunately, the bike had a mishap, so not getting out at the moment, but will try and get something through...
