Hi

Recently installed latest version of OsmAnd~ (255M) and noticed that map is twisting during the navigation mode when there is no movement for example whn stopping at traffic lights or moving slowly in traffic jams.

The map twisting is means that map itself, no other controls such a top bar or gadgets, starting to twist with once per second or two or more for about 10-15 pixels to left, right, up, down or any other direction.

There are no twisting during the move or I did not noticed it and also there are no map twisting in Free Drive mode.

The mentioned problem is noticed for Car profile.

Areg

May be it is related to the navigation setting : Use compass during navigation, please try to check it out. In some sense it is good because we finally have compass working but not in a correct manner.

Hi Victor

I disabled the Compass option and faced completely other situation.

Now map is twisted less than previously but still do it sometimes.
Now together with twisting I noticed a map rotation for couple of degrees left to right and back as it is trying to determine the direction.

Seems this issue can be connected with the thing that I had a case with the magnet on it and stopped to use it once noticed that compass is not working.
Also it can be related to the fact that phone got dropped 2-3 times which can cause small damage to giro-meter.

Do you know is there a possibility to check if this is the hardware issue or related to the software?

Just as additional information - even the compass on phone is not working quite right there were no map twisting in previous versions with "Use Compass" option enabled.

I'm still not sure if I understand what twisting means. If you could make a screenshot or confirm what is the latest commit, it would be great.

Hi Victor

I managed to take a video of the screen so it will be clear what I mean by twisting.

Please see attached videos, the second one is shows the twisting and slight rotating together.

If you are standing you have a kind of virtual movement. GPS detect your position every second. If the device is motionless, the result of the GPS-detection is, the device moves around the location of the device.

Hi

There was no such movements in previous versions - so something changed in the code.

Also if this is some kind virtual movement why it does not affects non navigation mode - when the App is used just to show the position on map?

This is not reproducible if you go with speed > 0 and use rotation To Bearing.
There is an option (Compass in Navigation) which causes too much rotation when speed is around 0. I noticed it as well and I'm going to introduce rotation free time interval.

Hi

Seems disabling the option improved the situation but it happens time to time.
Of course it is not so annoying as before, thanks.
