Hi guys,

now brouter-web has the possibility to load GPX files, which is very useful when planning new tracks. Because typically I want to do new hiking somewhere where I wasn't before.

Even better, it is possible to load multiple GPX files, BUT: Very easily the size of 1 MB is exceeded. So my idea is, to simplify GPX tracks for the use in brouter-web, i.e. limit their number of trackpoints. Of course, since I have quite a lot GPX files, only batch converting/simplifying would be useful.

Any ideas on how to do this job? I think GPSTrackanalyse was able to simplify tracks, but not on a batch job basis.

Thx for any input.

OK, I found https://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input - already converted 60 tracks with good results. Could be easier, but will see. Uploaded GPX in 2 packages as zip, set 50m per trackpoint, received 1 big GPX in return, imported it into Locus Pro and exported it to multiple GPX tracks for use with brouter-web.

Solved it! Was able to decrease size of 62 GPX files to less than 1 MB alltogether. I've set the trackpoint distance in gpsvisualizer to 200m which is still enough to see where I already was.

Thanks for the feedback on your progress.

Just to make sure: the file size limit is checked for each file individually, not the sum of all (the current error message isn't very helpful here).

The limit is just the - probably arbitrary - default of the library we use. I created an issue to increase the limit and make further improvements:

For bulk simplification see also GPSBabel:

Thanks Norbert, will check the tools and it's great that the limit is per file, I did not recognise that.
