How can I understand intern calculations like "mean cost factor"

Hi,
How can I understand intern calculations like "mean cost factor". I cannot find a doc about this calculations...
Can you help me with that?

Clean mean costfactor = sum (distance x costfactor) / sum (distance)

But it is more probably calculated with added cost due elevation profile or turn cost or initial cost or node cost. In this case, it would be total cost / total distance.

The latter is more useful.
