Lena Thorul was an Element Girl scientist who saw the inevitable futility of the gender war between the Element Girl and Beast Boy Gothamites, in which she felt the Gothamites had lost touch with each other and with their true potential: that they were stronger as a race when the two sexes truly comprehend each other. Thorul sought to create a symbol of what the Gothamites could be if they were united as a people, through the use of outlawed technology, she successfully created a unique and powerful female Gothamite with the attributes of both the Element Girls and Beast Boys and named her Wanda. Upon revealing Wanda to the Gothamites as a symbol of unity, however, this was greeted with revulsion from the Gothamites who ironically agreed together that Wanda was an abomination and Thorul was immediately killed for creating her.
Meanwhile, Telos takes the captive Dick Grayson to several of the battling cities to prove the futility of challenging him. And whatever you do, do not miss the final page, as the surprising return of an unexpected villain could crush all hope for salvation and seal the doom of everyone on the planet!
Unlike CA Senior Writer Chris Sims, who steadfastly scours the funny pages each month for his Funky Winkerbean/Crankshaft chronicle, Funkywatch (to say nothing of his inspiration, Josh Fruhlinger at the daily Comics Curmudgeon blog), there's a good chance you don't indulge in traditional comic strips as much as you'd like. Me? I mostly only dig into traditional funnies around the holidays to be sentimental and, uh, the 2012 Elections were totally a holiday, right? My dose of comic strip nostalgia used to take mere seconds, but since Cathy has been out of the game for two years now, this election I had to scan all of the usual suspects to see what style of humor they'd use to comment on democracy in America. Hit the jump to scan some of the most... election-y... comic strips from November 6.

Yes! Vote! Preferably for the state measures that legalize the stuff everyone at your party came to enjoy in an effort to escape the futility of modern life!
Lastly we have Slylock Fox, which carries on its daily, sisyphean task of having readers point out the minor and often specious differences between two images that appear nearly identical at a glance... which is totally nothing like participating in a democracy dominated by just two parties. I uh, just like Slylock Fox, is all.

Stuck in the Vanishing Point, the Paragons search for a way to escape. The futility of the situation is compounded by The Flash's disappearance. However, hope appears in the form of Oliver Queen, who reveals that he has become something else. Meanwhile, the origin stories for The Monitor and Anti-Monitor are revealed.[1]
While running through the Speed Force, The Flash finds himself in what appears to be S.T.A.R. Labs. He bumps into another individual who is wearing a similar suit. They exchange pleasantries, admiring the other's suit and introducing themselves both as Barry Allen. Confused, Earth-1 Barry begins to slip away.
The Injustice 2 story trailer debuted this morning, and with it tons of new information, new characters, and of course, the biggest reveal of all: the main villain behind this round of DC Comics-based character infighting. While Superman was the villain of the first game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, this time a more traditional villain lies in wait, and pulls the strings, and it's none other than the intergalactic supercomputer Brainiac.
"Savior... Monster. Guardian... Vigilante. The preservation of life, so often the justification for taking it. Humans: elevating those that keep guard, until they watch too close. And this so-called Hero, condoning the very act he would condemn. Transgressions of the past shape actions to come. As offspring turns into adversary, yesterday's loss leads to madness, and God becomes Tyrant, becomes Outcast, becomes... dust. As factions dissolve and form, and lust for power enslaves all, such folly and futility in the grand design. Curious how lines once clearly defined become blurred. Hmm... perhaps it is time for them to be... redrawn," Brainiac says. The narration plays over scenes of Superman, Batman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Robin, Bane, Poison Ivy, and more, and presents a Brainiac who is even more analytical and prepared than his comic book counterpart often is.
The other twist to this reveal comes from a new piece of key art released featuring Supergirl. Looming behind her is the glowing Brainiac head-ship, his intergalactic vessel of travel, an extension of his being, and typically where he keeps his collection of civilizations. We know that in this alternate reality, Supergirl is arriving to Earth for the first time, after the chaos her cousin caused, and it looks from this art (and if you're eagle-eyed while watching the trailer) that she's there at the behest of, and even working directly for, Brainiac. We'll surely learn more about that as the days leading to the game's release continue to tick by. Check out the gallery below for the keyart, a screenshot, and images from Brainiac's reveal in the trailer.
Injustice 2 is the sequel to the hit 2013 fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, which saw the heroes and villains of DC Comics clashing in brutal brawls. From the minds behind Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm Studios, Injustice 2 continues the story of a world where Superman snapped, and used his powers to become not just judge, jury, and executioner over the villains of the DCU, but eventually a dictator, ruling over the world with his fist of steel. After his defeat and imprisonment, the world is trying to pick up the pieces, but won't have much time to rest as Brainiac hits the scene. Injustice 2 hits consoles May 16, 2017.
