I've been exiled to the Bayview gulag (able was I ere I saw Bayview?)
for most of the year, so I may have missed out.

Anybody doing anything for the Super Bowl on Sunday?

I'll volunteer to do something at my place if there is any interest.
I have the HDTV and the two Webers. I have about 2 pounds of cow
diaphragm in my freezer for fajitas, I will try to obtain a brisket so
I can smoke that fucker if enough people want to drive out to the
"cowny" to watch the game.

It's about a 20 minute drive from the hospital, straight up 83 to
Northern Parkway and then up Falls road another 2 miles. Right over
the city line. Not too far. 18 Jones Falls Terrace 21209.

Give me an email/page/call/text/shout/semaphore/Aldis lamp/smoke
signal/telepathic message if you want to come. Everyone welcome, etc.
I just need to know an approximate head count so I can acquire meat
and vegetarian products appropriately.

I am looking for someone to cover me on leuks on valentine's day and feb.18 for interviews. I will pay whoever back but i don't have any noncall rotations for 2 months so it will have to be after that. Yall love leuks, you just don't know it. What better way to spend valentine's day? I will send you flowers from a secret admirer, and I have really good taste in flowers. Roses are overrated.

Hi,
Does anyone want to switch? I would like to trade MICU from 2/14 - 2/27 for something else. With my current MICU schedule the person would get 2 days off and be nights the last week.

Ronke.

Mike & Raja, are you bringing your wives? And does it matter that I
don't know who's playing? (Go Ravens? ;-))

Of course Liz can come. Lisa was just asking who was bringing their
wives/husbands.

So. Here's what I am providing:
4.5 lb brisket, to be smoked starting at around 10 AM (with 2 hr or so
prep time)
1 lb skirt steak, for beef fajitas
4 chicken split breasts
1 smoked sausage
A pack of spicy bean veggie burgers
necessary accoutrements for above

1 bag tortilla chips
1 bag pretzels
salsas and dips
1 cabbage salad
12 Heineken bottles + assorted beer in fridge
3 2L bottles soda

possibly:
some butternut squash
a loaf of bread from a recipe I wanted to try out
a make-your-own-boba-kit that I bought for Lisa for our anniversary
(kind of a gag gift)

and of course, HDTV, our disaster of a townhouse, a hot grill if you
want to bring anything that you want, whatever else suits your fancy
and isn't nailed to the floor. I have a 22" Weber that I will use to
smoke the brisket and an 18" Weber for direct grilling until the
brisket is finished then we can go two-fisted direct.

I figure the provisions above should be sufficient for those who have
told me they are coming, although if you want something else of course
feel free to bring it.

If you are coming and want to be fed, just let me know and I can plan
ahead (or bring something to grill or cook). That's my only rule.

Kickoff is 6:17 PM. The direct-grilled food will be ready around 30
minutes after people show up. The brisket should be ready at around 7
depending on how I succeed in a new recipe I am trying out.

18 Jones Falls Terrace, Baltimore 21209
Phone is 410 504 5798 or 713 857 9982. 83->N Parkway West (10A exit),
left at the first light at Falls Rd. Falls Rd 2 miles N through Mt
Washington then up the hill. Left on Old Pimlico (no light). Pass
the EZ Storage, then first complex on left (L on Jones Falls
Terrace). We're on the right as you come in. Park in a labeled guest
spot.

Who wants more leuks? I am trying to get rid of at least two weeks from 2/28-3/26.

Please do not page me in the middle of the night trying to sneak your reply in before all the other JARs wanting more time in Weiberia. I am very busy admitting NATOs. An email will suffice.

Our favorite Persian JAR (actually our 2nd favorite Persian JAR - sorry Kia, but Shabina is way better looking, and less hairy) will be turning the big 3-0 this Thursday. To celebrate, we will be congregating @ Pazo at ~7:30ish and onward. Why Pazo? Because the birthday boy has vetoed every other establishment in the greater Baltimore area. So come join and buy him a drink so he can act like he is really turning 21!

Reminder pages to follow...

Eli,

30 just sounds so cool, so I say it every year as one tends to get more attention that way.

No dude... I am pretty sure last year was 29. On March 13, 1978 my 11 pound ass came into this world..... I remember it like it was yesterday.

I think Eli's right. I think that last year's celebration was at least billed as Kia's 30th.

But that's ok. Kia can be whatever age he wants to be.

Beth,

My mom says the words "gestational diabetes" sound very familar. But for some reason the words "carbohydrate-controlled diet" don't ring a bell. It is kinda like how all our patients know the words "hypertensive emergency" but have that blank stare when the words "taking your Nifedipine?" come out of our mouths.

If you see a picture of me in kindergarten, you will not find it hard to believe that I weighed 11lbs (with an A1c of 10.4%) at birth. I dont think I was late, just well-nourished.
