Dear Dr. Jiang and Dr. Rydel,
I hope that you both are doing well. We are very much looking forward to having you speak with the OBGYN 216 class, “Current Issues in Reproductive Health” on Monday, February 1st from 12:30-1:20 pm for a session entitled Family Med: A Perspective on Family Planning.
I wanted to give you an update on logistics. The course will be held entirely on Zoom, and I have copied the Zoom information for your session below. I also will send a calendar invite to the Zoom meeting shortly.
Topic: ObGyn 216: Current Issues in Reproductive Health
Time: Feb 01, 2021 12:30 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada)

We currently have 20 students enrolled, including 1st and 2nd year MD and PA students. I have attached the syllabus for the course in case you would like to see who else is scheduled to speak and what topics the course will cover. If you would like me to amend the title of your talk, please let me know.
I have suggested that lecturers try to prepare a very casual presentation, using slides if desired. Students love to hear about speakers’ career paths, so if you gave a brief introduction on yourself and how you became interested in your field, that would be wonderful. Ideally, we would love for your talk to run for about 40 minutes and to leave 5-10 minutes for questions.
Please let me know if you have any questions or conflicts with the scheduled session. My cell phone number is (650) 823-3699. Thank you again for your time and willingness to participate in this course.
My best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season, Alexis

Hi Alexis,
Hope you are well. I'd be happy to participate in this - would be an honor!
This time I'll try to tell my kid not to get sick (which is what happened last year, but Dr. Jiang covered masterfully, I'm sure)
Will put it on the calendar!

Dear Dr. Jiang and Dr. Rydel,
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Alexis Doyle and I am a rising second-year medical student serving as the Teaching Assistant for the course Current Issues in Reproductive Health (OBGYN 216).
It was wonderful having you both speak together as a part of the OBGYN 216 seminar this past year, and I am writing to invite you back to be speakers for the course in the Winter Quarter of 2021. As a student in the course last year, I found your joint session “Family Med: A Perspective on Family Planning” to be quite informative and important. I know how valuable it would be for students to learn about reproductive healthcare in the setting of family medicine as well as hear about aspects of both of your professional journeys.
Given the current uncertainty surrounding academic scheduling in 2021, we are currently unsure what the format of the course will be. We are making plans for the course to be conducted as an online Zoom seminar if necessary. If you are interested and available, it would be wonderful if you could join us on Monday, 02/01/2021 from 12:30-1:20 pm (location TBD, if the course is held in person). Ideally, we would love for your talk to run for about 40 minutes to leave 5-10 minutes for questions.
A quick refresher about the course: Current Issues in Reproductive Health is a lunchtime seminar series led by Dr. Druzin that aims to provide students with exposure to a range of topics in reproductive health that are not part of the core curriculum. The class is typically comprised of pre-clinical students (most of whom are first-years) from the MD, PA, and genetic counseling programs.
Please let me know if you would like to speak at OBGYN 216 again next Winter. I hope you both will be able to join us! If either of you has any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you both so much for your time, Dr. Jiang and Dr. Rydel. I look forward to hearing from you both.
Sincerely,
Alexis Doyle
