hey folks-

here's the latest update and a "rough" outline of what we're up to.

-we're moving servers this week, adafruit.com's drive failed and my
personal computer(s) and laptop died. a flood killed a couple
computers and at a MAKE magazine event with ETSY my powerbook's drive
completely failed (working on dd'ing it this week). so i lost some
templates i made for some devices we were posting, but for the most
part things are going to be ok.

-we recieved about 5,000 emails since we "launched" at the end of
2006. it took weeks to get through them, unfortunately a lot of people
think this is a "get rich" thing and just want a powerpoint and word
doc to get VC money or something. that said, there were tons of great
emails from folks who are going to get a laser and we've tried our
best to help them.

-we've had many people schedule in-person visits who had lasers and i
think that was really helpful to see how we work. bre who works with
MAKE magazine will do some filming and we'll post a video, that might
be a good way to get an overview.

-so far the business is doing well, we're both busy so working by
appointment only with pre-approved art in the right format is
extremely handy.

-in the next week i'll re-post the machine, parts, specs, and
templates and send a note when they're up to the list.

-we've tried to post up photos of things we've etched on flickr, be
sure to check those out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/adafruitlaser/

cheers,
pt
